Excavators

excavators
The excavators produced by LEGO® Technic are all similar in size, but vary greatly in the way that their functionality is achieved.  Two use pneumatics for the bucket and boom motion, while the another is purely mechanical.  The most recent uses linear actuators instead of pneumatics.  Only one features powered slewing and steering.

My favorite is the first, 8851.  It is the most functionally complex and realistic looking, though also the most expensive.  No surprise there.
